On August 19–20, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov paid a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation held negotiations with the leadership of the Government and ministries of Bahrain, as well as representatives of the country’s business community.

During the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the parties discussed all areas of comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bahrain. The commitment to building a solid foundation for lasting friendship ties was emphasized, as well as the great potential for fruitful cooperation — from the economy to culture, from education to geopolitics.

At the talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, special attention was paid to strengthening the partnership between Uzbekistan and Bahrain — from expanding political dialogue to boosting trade, investment, and institutional experience exchange. The most acute topics of regional and global cooperation were covered, including the strengthening the bridges between Central Asia and the Gulf. Following the negotiations, the Agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports was signed.

Meetings were also held with Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. During the discussions, issues of comprehensive development of bilateral ties were considered, including bringing new impetus to relations, facilitating direct engagements between business circles, and other important aspects.

In talks with Minister of Industry and Commerce of Bahrain Abdulla Adel Fakhro, the importance of strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as exploring new opportunities in investment, innovation, and industrial partnerships was underlined. The importance of experience exchange in key sectors was also highlighted.

Particular attention was paid to fostering interaction with the private sector. With CEO of Lamar Holding Lina Nureddin, the opening opportunities for businesses of the two countries in the interests of both sides were discussed. In turn, with CEO of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) Ali Al Baqali, a substantive exchange of views took place on promotion green energy, technological production, joint ventures, and others.

Following the visit, Uzbekistan and Bahrain reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership, based on the spirit of friendship, trust, and mutual respect.
