The influential Omani newspaper "Asdaa Oman" published an article titled "World Bank allocates $200 million for the reconstruction of Uzbekistan's roads."

It is noted that this project represents a significant step toward the development of the country's transport infrastructure. According to the publication, the project involves the reconstruction of 91 kilometres of road, transforming the existing two-lane route into a modern four-lane highway.

It is emphasized that this route is of strategic importance, as it connects Uzbekistan with Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan.

Large-scale modernization of road infrastructure is also planned, including the construction and reconstruction of approximately 180 bridges and culverts, the creation of modern bus stops, and the implementation of comprehensive road safety measures.

The project is expected to increase daily traffic to 35,000 users, while the average vehicle speed is projected to rise from 65 km/h to 90 km/h.

Furthermore, the project encompasses a broader set of reforms aimed at the comprehensive development of the transport system. These include the advancement of a national multimodal transport strategy, enhancing the efficiency of corporate governance within the railway sector, and improving the overall quality of transport services.

It is emphasized that the implementation of this initiative will facilitate the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s transit potential, foster the development of trade and tourism, and contribute to the creation of new employment opportunities.
