Muhammad al-Hajriy: The Center of Islamic Civilization – An Expression of the Nation’s Spirit and Intellectual Power

Muhammad al-Hajriy: The Center of Islamic Civilization – An Expression of the Nation’s Spirit and Intellectual Power

Since ancient times, the torch of knowledge and enlightenment has shone brightly in our sacred land. Great thinkers have flourished here, and their legacy has served as a guiding star for all humanity across the centuries.
As time passes, the need to deeply understand the spiritual treasures preserved in this land and to pass them on to future generations in a worthy manner has become increasingly evident. The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, established on the basis of such needs and lofty goals, holds special significance not only in architectural terms but also in its spiritual and educational content. It stands as a symbol of the organic connection between the past and the present, tradition and modernity. Every idea and exhibition gathered in this place elevates human thought and encourages people to reflect on their roots.

A correspondent of UzA recorded the views of Senator Muhammad bin Said al-Hajriy, a member of the State Council (the upper house of Parliament) of the Sultanate of Oman, regarding the role of this center in the Muslim world, its contribution to world civilization, and its importance in modern spiritual and educational development.

– This complex reflects not only an architectural and constructive perspective but also the will and intellectual potential of the people. It should be noted that your country is a great land; wherever you go, you can see evidence of ancient history. This land, known in the past as “Movarounnahr,” produced great thinkers such as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam at-Tirmidhi, Mahmud az-Zamakhshari, al-Farghani, Ibn Sina, al-Khwarizmi, and al-Biruni, who made significant contributions to world science and the development of Islam.

You know, many countries strive to create such large cultural institutions that reflect the spirit of the nation and its civilizational achievements. In my opinion, this is extremely important in two directions:

The External Direction: This is a message to the global community that this nation is still capable of creativity, enriching human thought, and providing spiritual nourishment. Moreover, it serves as a powerful argument that challenges stereotypes claiming that this nation has stopped at a certain historical stage and can no longer contribute to human civilization.

The Internal Significance: This is a message directed at the nation itself. Such places strengthen the connection between the present and the past of a flourishing land and revive a sense of identity among the population.

It is also important that such complexes are interactive, delivering knowledge in modern forms rather than merely presenting static materials. I observed that the Center of Islamic Civilization pays special attention to this by effectively utilizing modern technologies. As visitors walk through the building, they experience a vivid and immersive atmosphere. In fact, the best educational practice is one that harmonizes experience and knowledge.

Uzbekistan is a country rich in historical monuments. A nation with such a heritage plays an important role in fostering dialogue between civilizations and strengthening mutual understanding among different peoples. In general, the Uzbek people deserve to have such a magnificent center due to their deep respect for their history and national identity, their active efforts to preserve and develop it, and their high spiritual potential.
