The Republic of Uzbekistan and the State of Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening brotherly relations and advancing multifaceted cooperation during the Inaugural meeting of the Coordination Council for Strategic Partnership held on August 21, 2025, in Doha.
The meeting was co-chaired by Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The Coordination Council, established under the 2024 Agreement on Bilateral Strategic Partnership, serves as a platform to ensure the effective implementation of high-level agreements and to explore new avenues for cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar warmly welcomed his counterpart from Uzbekistan, together with the accompanying delegation, and expressed the sincerest wishes of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, for the Coordination Council’s success in further expansion of multifaceted relations between Qatar and Uzbekistan.
In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality provided for the Uzbek delegation, and conveyed warm greetings of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and his unequivocal intention to strengthen and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani welcomed organization of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand on October 30 – November 13, 2025, and the Second GCC-Central Asia Summit in Uzbekistan in 2026.
Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov welcomed the choice of Doha as the venue for the Second World Social Summit to be held on November 4-6, 2025, and the announcement by the State of Qatar to submit its bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and investment, enhancing academic, scientific and cultural exchanges, promoting youth and sports development, improving transport connectivity, and addressing environmental sustainability and climate change.
Qatar and Uzbekistan confirmed their interest in strengthening comprehensive bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and pragmatism. Both sides emphasized that regular mutual visits at the highest level, as well as intensified exchanges of delegations, will contribute to the strengthening and expansion of Uzbek-Qatari strategic partnership.
Heads of Qatari and Uzbek delegations stressed the importance of deepening cooperation within international and regional organizations, coordinating positions on political and security issues of mutual interest, and exploring opportunities to support nominations in international forums in a manner that serves the interests of both countries.
The Parties emphasized the importance of continuing active efforts to enhance economic cooperation, including investment and trade, through exchange of information on business opportunities, joint measures to increase mutual trade, conducting exhibition and business forums.
The two sides welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on investment cooperation between Qatar Mining Company and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event concluded in a spirit of friendship and cooperation, with both sides agreeing to hold the second meeting of the Qatar-Uzbekistan Coordination Council for Strategic Partnership in Samarkand city.
The Inaugural meeting marks an important milestone in the growing partnership between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and sets the stage for continued collaboration in the years ahead.
