During a video conversation initiated by our Embassy, one of the prominent figures of the Sultanate of Oman — Professor Muhammad Al-Hajri, member of the upper house of parliament (State Council), senator, and Chairman of the Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs — gave an interview to UzA.
It should be noted that Professor Muhammad Al-Hajri directly participated in the international scientific-practical conference titled "Islam — a Religion of Peace and Benevolence," held in Tashkent and Khiva in October 2024.
“Uzbekistan has held an important place in world history as a land that has made a significant contribution to Islamic civilization, global science, and cultural development. Great scholars such as Imam Al-Bukhari, Imam At-Tirmidhi, Imam Abdulqahir Al-Jurjani, and Imam Az-Zamakhshari, who hailed from the region of Mawarannahr, left an invaluable scientific legacy in the fields of Sharia, linguistics, and Quranic exegesis. The works created by them are highly esteemed in the Islamic world and are still widely used today. In fact, many renowned Islamic scholars became who they are by studying the works of thinkers who grew up on Uzbek soil.
In the fields of philosophy and applied sciences as well, Uzbek scholars have gained worldwide recognition. For instance, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), with his work The Canon of Medicine, had a profound influence on global medicine. Abu Rayhan Beruni made a lasting impact on the development of global science through his extensive research. Al-Farghani’s discoveries in astronomy and engineering significantly contributed to the advancement of human civilization. In short, the works of these great ancestors are truly worthy of the highest praise.
Today, Uzbekistan, inheriting such a rich legacy, is rapidly developing in harmony with modern progress while relying on its scientific and spiritual wealth. Most importantly, the country continues to strengthen its intellectual potential by preserving, studying, and passing on its historical scientific traditions to future generations.”
