Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman Abdusalom Khatamov visited the Embassy of Algeria in Muscat on the occasion of the death of President Lamine Zeroual of Algeria and expressed condolences to the Algerian people and the esteemed Ambassador Mohamed Bougazy on behalf of the Embassy.
Lamine Zeroual, who headed Algeria from 1994 to 1999, was born on July 3, 1941 in Batna, Algeria. From the age of 16, he served in the National Liberation Army, which fought to liberate Algeria from French rule. After the declaration of independence in 1962, he studied in Moscow and Paris. Returning to Algeria, L. Zeroual continued his military and main work activities. In particular, in 1990-1991 he worked as the Ambassador of Algeria to Romania.
