Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Sultanate of Oman

Political Relations


Oman recognized the independence of Uzbekistan in December 1991.

Diplomatic relations were established on April 22, 1992.

 

The Embassy of Oman in Tashkent began its activities in April 2010.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Muscat began its activities in July 2018.

 

The first high-level visit was the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.A. Karimov to the Sultanate of Oman from October 4-6, 2009.

During the visit, 19 intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed.

 

In 2008, a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two states was signed in New York.

 

The first round of political consultations was held during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi, to Uzbekistan from May 13-17, 2010.

 

The 7th round of political consultations was held on September 20-21, 2022, during the visit of a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, F. Sidikov, to Oman.

 

In March 2018, the then Minister of Heritage and Culture of the Sultanate of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said (Sultan of Oman since January 11, 2020), participated in the opening ceremony of the new building of the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies in Tashkent.

 

On April 15, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, participated in the second meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asia-Gulf Arab States Strategic Dialogue, held in Tashkent.
As part of the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman was received by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

On June 25-26, 2024, an official visit of a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan was made to Muscat.

 

On September 24, 2024, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi in New York.

 

On February 24, 2025, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi in Tashkent.

 

On February 24, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi.

 

On March 8, 2025, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi in Jeddah.

 

On April 7, 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the Shura Council of Oman, Khalid bin Hilal Al-Ma'awali, within the framework of the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

 

In May 2025, for the first time in history, a special course was organized at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent to improve the skills of young diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman.
