On January 28 of this year, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Abdusalom Khatamov, held a cordial meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Sultanate of Oman, Professor Muhammet Hekimoglu. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Sultanate of Oman, Abdusalom Khatamov, received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Sultanate of Oman (whose headquarters is located in Kuwait City), Mr. Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, at the Embassy of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, they had an in-depth exchange of views on a number of important issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador A. Khatamov opened the meeting by stating that the visit of His Excellency Qays Saad Al-Amri was a great honor for the Uzbek side. During the sincere and friendly meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the company presented a number of proposals aimed at entering the Uzbek market, including the diversification of fish production and improving the quality of feed used in aquaculture. During the meeting, the Embassy discussed holding a joint cultural and humanitarian event in the Sultanate of Oman to mark this important date. At the initiative of the Embassy, an online meeting was held today between Uzbek exporting companies and representatives of Lulu Hypermarket — one of the largest retail chains in the Sultanate of Oman — with the aim of enhancing trade relations between Uzbekistan and Oman. During the meeting, prospects for cooperation were discussed in detail.

During the conversation, the parties discussed in detail issues related to cooperation in the field of personnel training, the exchange of experience, as well as organizing reciprocal visits of officials responsible for this sector.

On February 4, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Senate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan headed by its Chairman Faisal Akef Methqal El-Fayez.

Throughout the year, the business climate remained in positive territory, with an annual average of 57 points, indicating an overall favorable business environment in Uzbekistan.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) presented the results of its 2025 business climate analysis, based on monthly nationwide surveys of entrepreneurs. Using the collected data, a composite Business Climate Indicator was constructed, reflecting assessments of current business conditions as well as expectations for the next three months.

In recent years, youth entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan has increasingly begun to take a clearer shape as a distinct direction of international cooperation. In the context of global economic instability, the acceleration of technological changes, and intensified competition in the labor market, states have begun to view youth as entities capable of creating new economic value. In this regard, youth entrepreneurship can be evaluated as an important part of a long-term human capital strategy. The emergence of the entrepreneurship direction within the framework of cooperation in youth policy between Uzbekistan and Turkey is not an accidental process. Both countries have a high share of youth, and the issue of economic growth is directly linked to innovation, small business, and initiative. Therefore, youth entrepreneurship is forming as a separate, relatively independent direction in bilateral cooperation.

Bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey have been gradually expanding in recent years, covering various fields. Within the framework of this cooperation, formed on the basis of the initiatives of the leaders of the two countries, along with economic, trade, cultural, and humanitarian directions, youth issues have also emerged on the agenda as a priority direction. This process shows that the youth issue is moving beyond the scope of internal social measures and becoming an important component of interstate relations.

Uzbekistan’s total external debt amounted to $75.4 billion as of October 1, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan (MIIT), $37.4 billion of this amount accounts for the government’s external debt.

In the context of globalization, issues of poverty reduction and sustainable employment are addressed not only through national efforts but also through international experience and institutional cooperation. Particularly, the enhancement of knowledge and professional capacity of public officials responsible for these areas is a crucial strategic factor. In this regard, the new collaboration between the Center for the Professional Development of Employees of the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey is recognized as an important initiative aimed at developing human capital.

In the context of globalization, modernizing the labor market, ensuring employment, and reducing poverty cannot be effectively addressed without international cooperation. From this perspective, the systematic collaboration between the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the Republic of Turkey holds strategic importance for both countries. This cooperation encompasses comprehensive reforms aimed at increasing the competitiveness of labor resources, aligning the professional qualification system with international standards, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for citizens.

The strategic convergence between Turkiye and Central Asian states –driven by shared historical and cultural heritage alongside mutually reinforcing economic interests – is cultivating a novel architectural framework for regional interconnectedness. Through multilateral formats and bilateral initiatives, these actors have been establishing a durable platform for cooperation across trade, energy, transportation, and the “green” economy, transforming geographical proximity into a long-term factor of stability and collective development.

On 23 January, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a videoconference meeting was held on the key tasks of poverty reduction and employment provision for 2026. In terms of both substance and the framing of issues, the meeting marked a turning point in the evolution of the country’s social policy.

Economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkiye is carried out within the framework of signed bilateral agreements and established intergovernmental mechanisms, and is supported by regular high-level contacts. In addition, Uzbekistan and Turkiye cooperate within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.

As part of the official visit to Ankara, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took part in the opening ceremony of the “Uzbekistan” residential complex, constructed by the Uzbek side in Hatay Province.
